Gugulethu Mbatha (better known by the name Gugu-Mbatha Raw) is a British actress and film star known for her role in the film industry after she appeared in the BBC show "Doctor Who", which is a British science-fiction TV series. Gugu's role in the show as Tish Jones was extremely popular. Tish Jones is the younger sister of Martha Jones. However, when she was 21 years old, Handler decided to pursue the stand-up comic profession full-time, because she realized her story telling talents. Handler's professional career started as part of the all-female Oxygen TV cast in the hidden camera/practical humor reality show Girls Behaving Unstably. The show was on the running from 2002 until. The host began to appear on other shows like Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler has also worked as the correspondent of The Tonight Show. Handler achieved her first big break in 2006 hosting her own E! show. It was titled The Chelsea Handler Series. The show ran for two seasons. Handler later performed in the US in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend and HBO have broadcast Handler's standup performances. In 2010, she confirmed that she would host the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. She became only the second woman ever to host the VMAs following Roseanne Bar.
